Uttaranchal College of Polytechnic, Uttaranchal University, has always remained on the forefront in not only imparting knowledge and skills in the domain of technology but also in being proactive in dedicating itself towards developing the mental, physical and emotional health of its students thereby contributing to building a healthy society and country.
With this spirit the college decided that in this difficult time of COVID-19 pandemic the health of the students should be given due priority and thus imbibed the spirit of the theme of International Yoga Day 2020 “Yoga for Health – Yoga at Home” to encourage and motivate the students to do Yoga while staying safe at their homes.
There were many students who performed Yoga at their homes understanding its significance and role in remaining healthy and gave a message of its importance to others. Few names are worth mentioning here like Ishika Dhanai, Aman Sadhiyan,Varun Saini, Amit Rawat, Sourabh Singh Bisht, Anshumali Karna and Sanjay Singh Satwal. These students performed various yogic postures, asanas, and pranayams and also taught the same online to their friends and class mates.
Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Shah appreciated the efforts of the members of faculty, especially that of Mr. Manish Ghalwan from Department of Civil Engineering, in celebrating Yoga Day online with the students and said that not only these events strengthen the ties between teachers and students but also serves the dual purpose of bringing the hidden talents of students out along with filling them with refreshing energy.
