Uttaranchal College of Polytechnic “CRICKET TOURNAMENT”

Fit India Movement is a nation-wide movement in India to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. It was launched by Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi on 29th August, 2019 on the occasion of National Sports Day. The campaign has a “Fitness Pledge” that reads as follows:

“I promise to myself that I will devote time for physical activity and sports every day and I will encourage my family members and neighbors to be physically fit and make India a fit nation”.

At Uttaranchal College of Polytechnic, Uttaranchal College of Polytechnic, we have adopted and enshrined these words into our curriculum as the very philosophy that guides our everyday activities in the college.

The Fit India Club of the college organized a Cricket Match on 20th February, 2020.

The Two Teams comprised of students from II and III Year of Diploma Civil Engineering. Team A was led by Prince Arora while Team B played under the captaincy of his batch-mate Sanjay Singh. It was a fifteen over each match in which Team A played first having won the toss. Team A scored 120 runs and was beaten by the Team B in a tight finish by one wicket on the last ball of the match.

The captains of both the teams appreciated the move of the college management to encourage the students in sports and focus on the overall mental, physical development of all the students.

After the match Dr. S. K. Shah, in his brief address to the students, said that sports bring out the best in an individual and also go a long way in nurturing the character of a person along with the leadership qualities.
